What I found (checked 27 October 2026)

  • ACMA added Retrobet to its blocked list on 18 March 2026, so the site no longer loads for most Australians.
  • The Curaçao regulator lists Retrobet under Stable Tech N.V., licence OGL/2024/161/0191, the same licence as MateSlots and 12 other brands.
  • The welcome is up to €15,000 (about A$23,900) plus 500 free spins over four deposits, at 50x on the bonus with an A$7.50 bet cap.
  • Aerobet adds a sportsbook under a different company, MateSlots is the sister site with AUD accounts, and Winberry still needs an answer on Australian access.

Why Australians look for a Retrobet alternative

The short answer is the block. Retrobet was one of eight offshore gambling sites in ACMA’s 18 March 2026 blocking round, alongside MyStake and Frumzi. Since then Australian internet providers stop the site loading, which is why searches such as “retrobet login” and “retrobet australia” now mostly mean “why will it not open”. I set out what the block means for an existing account in my Retrobet review.

The casino itself is not new or anonymous. It launched in 2024, and the Curaçao regulator’s own licence record lists retrobet.com under Stable Tech N.V., company number 160129, licence OGL/2024/161/0191, active since 16 July 2024. Older reviews name a different company, Hollycorn N.V., but Hollycorn’s own licence record covers only one other domain.

Players also had complaints before the block. Trustpilot shows 2.7 out of 5 from 345 reviews, split between 46% five-star and 37% one-star, with recurring stories about pending withdrawals and repeated verification.

In practice: if you came looking for Retrobet from Australia, you need a casino that is not on the blocked list, and ideally one run by a different company.

Casinos like Retrobet: which one fits you?

I checked Retrobet on 27 October 2026 and the three alternatives on 21–27 October 2026, using the Curaçao regulator's licence record, operator pages, review sites and Trustpilot. Retrobet publishes its bonus and limits in euros; I converted them at A$1.59 per euro (ECB reference rate, 26 October 2026) and rounded. One review shows the same welcome tiers in AUD at face value, so an AUD account may see A$15,000 rather than about A$23,900. Winberry figures are its Canadian terms, converted at about A$1.01 per C$.

The three alternatives in detail

All three are offshore casinos like Retrobet, but each changes a different part of the deal, and one of them is a close relative.

Aerobet: a different company, plus a sportsbook

Aerobet suits players who want to leave Retrobet’s operator behind or bet on sport as well as spinning pokies. It launched in 2025 under Hazy Ltd with Anjouan licence ALSI-152406050-FI4, and that number is printed in its footer.

  • Welcome: up to 600% plus 450 free spins, wagered 35x on bonus and deposit.
  • Payments: seven cryptocurrencies, MiFinity, Skrill, Neteller, Apple Pay and Neosurf.
  • Catch: withdrawals are capped at about A$800 a day, and its Trustpilot record is only six reviews long.

My Retrobet vs Aerobet page goes row by row.

Winberry: tournaments and wheels, if it takes Australians

Winberry launched in February 2026 under a Costa Rica company with Anjouan licence ALSI-202510054-FI2. Like Retrobet, it leans on promotions rather than sport.

  • Extras: slot tournaments, bonus wheels and a 10-level VIP with cashback.
  • Welcome: 425% plus 675 free spins over four deposits, at 40x on deposit and bonus.
  • Catch: every source I found describes the Canadian version, so I list Australian access as “checking”.

See Retrobet vs Winberry.

MateSlots: Retrobet’s sister site with AUD accounts

MateSlots is run by the same company as Retrobet: the Curaçao licence record for OGL/2024/161/0191 lists mateslots.com next to retrobet.com. It is built for Australians, with AUD accounts and about 5,600 slots from roughly 146 studios.

  • Welcome: up to A$6,750 plus 250 free spins over four deposits.
  • Same rules: the same A$7.50 bet cap while a bonus runs.
  • Catch: same operator means the same verification and payout team; sources disagree on wagering (35x or 40x), and the weekly cap is A$4,500.

How I check these casinos

I start with the regulator: for Retrobet that is the Curaçao licence record, which names the company and lists the domains it covers. Then I read the bonus, payment and limit terms, review sites and Trustpilot, and I date every figure. Where two sources disagree, I show both. I do not deposit or play for these guides. The full method is on how I check casinos.

What to watch at each casino

CasinoMain concernsWhere I read them
RetrobetACMA block, pending or cancelled withdrawals, repeated verification, winnings voided over the bet cap, self-exclusion only through supportTrustpilot, AskGamblers, ACMA
AerobetWinnings voided after verification, the daily cap, slow payoutsTrustpilot, AskGamblers

MateSlotsSlow withdrawals, repeated document requests, balance cuts after big winsTrustpilot, LCB

In practice: complete verification before your first withdrawal at any of them, and keep your bets under the cap while a bonus runs.

How to switch from Retrobet safely

  1. 01Ask about your balance in writing. Email Retrobet's support from your account address and ask how to withdraw what is left.
  2. 02Do not use mirrors. Look-alike Retrobet domains are not always the casino, and I do not publish any.
  3. 03Close the account properly. Ask for closure or self-exclusion by email, since BetStop does not cover offshore casinos.
  4. 04Decide on the operator. MateSlots shares Retrobet's company; Aerobet does not.
  5. 05Have your ID ready. Every alternative asks for verification before paying out.
  6. 06Set a deposit limit on day one. Then claim a bonus only if the wagering fits your budget.

Retrobet alternatives: FAQ

  • What are the best sites like Retrobet in Australia?

I compare three. Aerobet gives you casino and sportsbook in one account under a different company. MateSlots is Retrobet’s sister site with AUD accounts and about 5,600 pokies. Winberry has tournaments and bonus wheels, but I am still confirming it takes Australians. See my bonus comparison for the offers side by side.

  • Why can't I open Retrobet from Australia?

ACMA blocked it. The regulator named Retrobet in its 18 March 2026 round of eight blocked offshore gambling sites, so Australian internet providers stop the site loading. The Interactive Gambling Act targets operators, not players. I do not publish mirror addresses or ways around the block; if you hold a balance, contact the casino’s support by email.

  • Which Retrobet alternative is closest for pokies players?

MateSlots is the closest. It is run by the same company, Stable Tech N.V., under the same Curaçao licence, with the same A$7.50 bet cap while a bonus runs. It lists about 5,600 pokies from roughly 146 studios and runs AUD accounts, with a welcome of up to A$6,750 plus 250 free spins.

  • Which Retrobet alternative has a sportsbook?

Only Aerobet. It runs a sportsbook with live betting next to the casino, with one balance and one login, and its sports welcome is separate from the casino offer. Retrobet is casino-only: slots, live tables from Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live and Ezugi, and instant games, but no sports betting.

  • Which alternative lets me withdraw the most?

It is close. MateSlots allows A$4,500 a week and A$22,500 a month. Retrobet’s published cap is €3,000 a week, about A$4,780. Aerobet allows about A$800 a day, which adds up to more in a week if you request daily. Winberry’s caps are Canadian, about A$1,520 a day, so I do not compare them yet.

  • Is it legal to play at Retrobet alternatives from Australia?

The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes it illegal to offer online casino games to people in Australia; it targets operators, not players. Every casino on this page is offshore, so there is no Australian regulator to complain to, and ACMA can block any of them, as it did Retrobet. Play only with money you can afford to lose.

  • How did you choose these three alternatives?

I looked for casinos that name a company and a licence number, publish their bonus and withdrawal terms, take Australian players or AUD, and differ from Retrobet in a useful way. Aerobet adds sport and a different owner, MateSlots adds AUD accounts, Winberry adds tournaments. Some links are affiliate links; my method is on how I check casinos.

  • Does self-exclusion at Retrobet cover its sister sites?

Do not assume it does. Retrobet’s self-exclusion runs through its support chat, and players report it did not always stop deposits. Each brand on the Stable Tech licence, including MateSlots, keeps its own accounts. BetStop, Australia’s national register, covers only licensed Australian wagering, so for offshore casinos ask each brand to close your account in writing.

Editor and casino researcher, Retrobet Alternatives

I am Alisa Naumova, editor of Retrobet Alternatives. I compare Retrobet with offshore casinos that Australians look at instead, using only what a reader can check: the company and licence number behind each brand, the regulator’s register, the bonus terms as written, payment methods, withdrawal caps converted to A$, and what review sites and players report. I date every figure, keep conflicting sources side by side and re-read the terms each month. I do not deposit or play for these guides, and affiliate links never change a verdict. My reviewer profile is on Trustpilot.
